Species List for 13/08/2024

 Four traps. An 80W MV Skinner in the Greenhouse Garden, a 15W Actinic in the Front Garden, a 80W MV Robinson in the Pond Garden and a 125W Robinson in the Back Garden. A breezy night with a min temp of 16 deg C. There were 348 moths of 80 species and four NFY including a Webb's Wainscot, just the fifth  I've caught here.

Species List for 31/7/2014

A breezy night and the temperature down to just under 16 deg C meant fewer moths and fewer species. A new Tortrix, Cochylidia subroseana was pleasing. In addition the first Orange Swift of the year put in an appearance, a day early than in 2011, the previous earliest year. Migrants were represented by a Rush Veneer, a Dark Sword Grass and 14 Silver Ys. In total there were 319 moths of 66 species

 The first Orange Swift of the year and on a really early date.

 A Flounced Rustic. This seems to give problems to some people, but just open up the wings to see the bright white hind wing. This distinguishes it from any confusion species.

Euzophera pinguis, one of the larger, boldly marked pyralids.
