Species List for 03/09/2026

 My Four traps, a 125W Robinson in the Back Garden, a 125W MV Robinson in the Pond Garden, a 15W Actinic in the Front Garden, and a 80W MV Skinner in the Greenhouse Garden, plus a portable Actinic trap  on loan from Sam Perfect. Another very blowy night, not very productive, but did bring another beautiful fressh Convolvulus Hawk-moth, the seventh of the year.  There were 187 moths of 35 species.

 My Four traps, a 125W Robinson in the Back Garden, a 125W MV Robinson in the Pond Garden, a 15W Actinic in the Front Garden, and a 80W MV Skinner in the Greenhouse Garden, plus a portable Actinic trap  on loan from Sam Perfect. A warm night, min temp around 18 deg C, but the wind at 20-34 mph ensured a low count. There were just 158 moths of 31 species. A huge drop from 80 to six Small Mottled Willows was notable.

 Four traps, a 125W Robinson in the Back Garden, a 125W MV Robinson in the Pond Garden, a 15W Actinic in the Front Garden, and a 80W MV Skinner in the Greenhouse Garden. (Hopefully I have found a replacement tube for 'Sam' and it will be back in action once it arrives and is fitted). There were 328 moths of 52 species with one NFY, a Hedge Rustic, which is quite sparse here with 12 records from 2006 to 2026. The main surprise was the number of Small mottled Willows, with 80, the most in a day I've recorded.

Species List for 30/08/2026

 After a day with no mothing, a: for a rest and b: because the weather was awful. Four traps, a 125W Robinson in the Back Garden, a 125W MV Robinson in the Pond Garden, a 15W Actinic in the Front Garden, and a 80W MV Skinner in the Greenhouse Garden. The Actinic tube in "Sam" seems to need replacing as it just blinks at the moment. It was a coolish 14 deg C night with a blustery wind from W to SW of  12 to 23 mph with some rain around 3 a.m. There were just 102 moths of 32 species with two NFY. The Yellow Belle was the fourth here. Two Vestals were interesting, one was a normal size with a wing length of around 14 mm, the other only around 9-10mm.
