Minor Sp.

Caught last night, the first Minor of the year. In real life it looked darker, and although not over-expossed the camera sees it differently! I think this is a Tawny Marbled Minor or possible a Rufous Minor. Without gen. det. can it be identified? - It has had it bits done, thanks Andy, and was a Tawny Marbled Minor.

About 8 to 8.5 mm wing length. Is this an early 1150 Epinotia abbreviana ? It seems the answer is NO, it is Lathronympha strigana, thanks to Mark Skevington for the ID.

As with last night I took in my black light traps at 12.30a.m. because of rain (black bulbs being very sensitive to getting wet). Nevertheless it was an extremely worth well night with a new moth for the site, and a good moth at that, a Flame Wainscot,. As far as I can see there hasn't been one in Kent for about four years. Other moths new for the year were Eudonia angustea, Grass Rivulet, Brown Silver-line and Shears.
