Species List for 12/8/2014

Setaceous Hebrew characters are becoming the dominant moth in the traps and scored an exact ton today. Altogether there were 228 moths of 38 species.Epiblema scutulana was new for the site. There will be a break of a few days in my Hidden House mothing while a weekend at Rutland takes place. If you are going to the birdfair I'll be there for at least two of the days, a message at the Birquest stand will reach me. I hope to do some mothing at our B&B at Lyddington. Hopefully we might catch something different.

 Looking at the "Bird Droppings" book, I think this is Epiblema scutulana.

 Common Wainscot has been in short supply this year.

A bid of a drizzle but overall not a bad night with a min Temp of 14.1 deg. C. In total there were 291 moths of 72 species. A second Langmaid's Yellow Underwing, that stood out as a very dull individual, and five new species for the year.

I always look forward to the first Trachycera advenella and it's relatves. I like pyralids and this group is a good one to sort out.
