 After a trip to the north, vias Clitheroe, Durham and the Cairngorms back to a very warm day (20 deg C) and minimum night od 14 deg C there were 55 moths of 18 species and eight NFY.

14 moths of nines species is not spectacular, but is the best of the year, so far. Two new for year, including my sixth Barred Tooth-striped. Oddly four of these have been caught in my Actinic trap in the front garden.

A very poor photo. I took this quickly with my phone as I emptied the trap. As usual I set up to take some "proper photos" later and managed OK with the Barred Tooth-striped, but the Mottled Grey flew as I went to click. This doesn't usually matter as I and in my mothing conservatory, and catching and re-setting up is no problem. However this time it found a spiders web in the corner and the spider was quicker than me. So it is my hasty phone shot. I will have to take these more seriously in future.

A couple of Pugs remain un-identified (updated to include Ochreous Pug). Cydia strobilella was new to the site, but wasn't unexpected with quite a few turning up in the south. Another Barred Toothed Stripe was a good extra.

 The Barred Tooth-striped moth is a priority species under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan (UK BAP), and the Species Action Plan produced aims to maintain all known populations, with enhancement of these populations by the year 2010 ( Abit out of date now).
