 Very rarely do you find a moth in a trap that simply takes your breath away. Last night was one such night, when I looking in the 80W MV trap in the vegetable garden and saw a Death's-head Hawk-moth clung to the inside. It was even more impactful as it had been the most wan

ted moth for the boys on our trip to the Scilly Isles. We missed it there, but this one made up for that for me. In total there were 40 moths of 16 species with two NFY (one of course a first ever for me).

 Not such an attractive night, and the traps remained local, with the portable actinic in the small quarry on the footpath leading to Buzza Hill, and it produced two Convolvulus Hawk-moths. In total there were 70 moths of  20 species.

 Another good looking night and the boys took an actinic trap out to the wall by the sea on the Garrison. Lots of moths, but no big rarity. Six Pearly Underwings were a good addition. In total there were 227 moths of 28 species.
