A couple from Clitheroe

My son, Pete, sent these two pictures of moths found at the window in Clitheroe, Lancs.

I think that this is a Pale Brindled Beauty, confirmation please. Well, I got this wrong! It is another Mottled Umber.

I thought that this Mottled Umber was a stunning image.

  3. Hello. In Russia there are butterflies. Family Geometridae. Geometridae
Occurs Moth lunchataya in Europe and Asian regions with temperate climates, usually in a wooded area.

Females lay eggs on various shrubs and trees, preferring blackthorn, hawthorn and alder, and raspberries. Caterpillars are on the plant, very similar to dry twigs. After the last molt, descend to the ground and pupate in a cocoon among the fallen leaves. Pupa hibernates. Last year, there are two generations. Moths of the second generation is much different from flying in April-May: they are much smaller and much more modestly painted. But anyway thank you for this information.

  4. The beauty of this recipe lies in the fact that soup can be prepared for it all year round, because zucchini can be frozen if necessary.
